General Courses
General courses provide the strong academic foundation every student needs to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. These courses build essential skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and critical thinking while supporting students at their current level and helping them grow with confidence. Honors courses are designed for students ready to engage with material at a faster pace and greater depth. Honors courses prepare students for Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment opportunities by strengthening critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Placement Courses
We offer an extensive Advanced Placement program that rivals the city's most selective schools—without sacrificing belonging or support. AP courses provide college-level academic rigor, preparing students to think deeply, write analytically, and engage confidently with complex material. Students graduate ready for the demands of college and confident in their ability to compete and succeed in any academic setting.
Dual Enrollment Courses
Dual Enrollment courses allow students to earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a powerful head start on their postsecondary journey. These courses are taught at a college level and challenge students to meet real university expectations—developing independence, time management, and academic confidence. Dual Enrollment ensures students don't just get to college, but are ready to thrive once they're there.
Diploma Pathways
KIPP College Prep offers multiple pathways to graduation, recognizing different strengths and achievements.
Local Diploma
((IEP Required))The Local Diploma is available to eligible students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). It recognizes students' successful completion of graduation requirements with appropriate supports and pathways aligned to their individual needs.
NYS Regents Diploma
The NYS Regents Diploma is earned by meeting New York State graduation requirements, including passing required Regents exams. This diploma prepares students for college, career, and postsecondary training opportunities.
NYS Regents Advanced Diploma
The NYS Regents Advanced Diploma is awarded to students who exceed standard graduation requirements by completing additional coursework and Regents exams, including advanced math, science, and world language credits. It reflects a higher level of academic achievement and readiness.
KIPP NYC College Prep AP Diploma
The AP Diploma is awarded to students who demonstrate college-level achievement by earning qualifying scores on at least one Advanced Placement (AP) exam. It highlights academic rigor and college readiness.
KIPP NYC College Prep AP Capstone Diploma
CPHS proudly offers the AP Capstone Diploma, an elite credential recognized by colleges nationwide. The KIPP NYC College Prep AP Capstone Diploma is awarded to students who complete the AP Seminar and AP Research courses, plus score a 3 or higher on four additional AP Exams of their choice, totaling six qualifying AP exams. This diploma recognizes advanced skills in research, analysis, collaboration, and presentation—key skills for success in college and beyond.
Student Support Services
At KIPP NYC College Prep, we believe that high expectations deserve a higher level of support. This commitment begins in the classroom, where every teacher is expected to provide tutoring at least twice per week to ensure personalized help is always accessible. We also offer a comprehensive range of learning environments—including ICT, SETSS, and Innovative SpEd Programming—supported by on-site specialists such as three full-time speech-language pathologists and an occupational therapist. Furthermore, our unique three-counselor model ensures every student is surrounded by experts from day one: each student is assigned both a social worker for emotional advocacy and a career counselor for professional exploration starting in the 9th grade, joined by a dedicated college counselor in their senior year to navigate the path to graduation and beyond.
